Barbara Ann Thompson and William Allan Kritsonis – Article: Do national, state, district and local plans working with strategic planning

Barbara Ann Thompson and William Allan Kritsonis, PhD

Introduction

The role of the school management team is often associated with instructional leadership. Leadership roles can be agreed by all stakeholders within the school community including the student population (Levin, 1998; Wallin, 2003). The six realms of meaning (Kritsonis, 2007) cover the range of possible meanings and understand the core competencies that general education should develop in each person. A philosophical theory of general education curriculum based on the idea logical patterns in the understanding of discipline is presented in ways of knowing through the Realms of Meaning (Kritsonis, 2007). There are patterns or structures in the knowledge and understanding of these typical forms is essential for the guidance of the teaching, learning and construction of curriculum. The different patterns of knowledge are the varieties of meaning, and learning of these patterns is the key to the effective realization of basic human through general education curriculum (Kritsonis, 2007).

Item Object

The purpose of this article is to discuss the significant aspects of the six realms of meaning with regard to planning strategic educational leadership.

Planning Initiatives

The six realms of meaning are considered six fundamental patterns of meaning (Kritsonis, 2007). These patterns are sequential and lay the foundations of all the meanings that enter the human experience and come from an analysis of the distinctive modalities of human understanding. The patterns are symbolic, empirical research, aesthetics, synnoetics, ethics, and the Synoptics (Kritsonis, 2007).

Any school or organization in the future is at stake in strategic planning (Center for Leadership and Development Organization, 2007). Strategic planning in education leadership will determine where school during the next year or so and how it will come (McNamara, 2008). A postmodern approach to academic and administrative departments would implement plans and strategies that are narrowly focused and vital to its future. A plan allowing too broad planning initiatives that go wrong in the right way focus or those who could get stuck and not be able to move (Center High School or Organizational Development and Leadership, 2007). A framework for strategic planning of higher education focused on leadership, communication and evaluation is a predictor of taking the national, state, district and local workplans Center ( for school or Organizational Development and Leadership, 2007). Steps in the framework according to McNamara (2008) are as follows:

Mission, vision and values

  1. partners and beneficiaries,
  2. environmental impact studies,
  3. goals,
  4. strategies and action plans
  5. building plans and
  1. results and achievements.

2. The modernist divorce between the knowing subject (English, 2003).

In the fourth kingdom of synnoetics, the student can gain insight through personal Working with expert guidance counselors or complete a social activity. The student is equipped with a rich and disciplined life in relation to oneself and others. Synnoetics requires active participation and commitment. Knowing and being are the same thing in personal existence. Ethics or moral knowledge is the fifth kingdom, when a student is able to make sound decisions and to judge between good and evil. His moral behavior is a universal responsibility. It's what to do, and right action. In the area of the sixth summary, the student has a complete picture of which epistemology – the theory of knowledge and metaphysics – what is real, are the main basis of its function (Kritsonis, 2007).

The first kingdom: Symbolic

Mathematical systems are designed to achieve total accuracy in meaning and rigor in reasoning (Kritsonis, 2007). language discourse refers to language used in common speech to communicate ideas.

The scope of the curriculum in general education can each person's participation in the social sense of the totality of the educational community (Kritsonis, 2007). Integrity and the need to be learned in certain essential elements enabling leadership that defines the roles and responsibilities essential to effective strategic plan. Council members, community leaders, teachers, parents and students actively involved in the creation and organization of the guiding principles of continuous effective leadership, communication and evaluation.

  1. Skills displays communication through speech, writing, and the kind of experience.
  2. This broader-based property in which participants feel valued and involved makes it easier to commit to change (Lindsey, Robins, and Terrell, 2003).

Lindsey, Robins, and Terrell says in his book, Cultural competence, a handbook for school professionals, which required a strategic plan informed and dedicated who are committed and involved leadership. Take time to think, reflect, evaluate, decide and change, and actively participate in working sessions where the educational community is to provide distinctive ideas, beliefs, feelings and perceptions (2003). To monitor the progress of the plan and evaluate the results, ongoing attention to evaluation is needed. These assessments for evaluation to provide guidance for the development of pre-planning strategies. Allow monitoring the planning process and judge whether the activities a plan and strategies are successful in meeting the objectives of the school or organization. Strategic planning, according to the Center for School Development or Organizational and Leadership (2007), may include an examination of the school or political organization, social environment, economic and technical. A review initial analysis of the school or organization can take place. The planning phase can examine the factors that are driving the environment, strengths and weaknesses, opportunities and threats in connection with the school or organization. The mission, vision and values are updated as needed. The Center for School or organizational and Leadership Development (2007) suggests that an environment that has a diverse leadership team to develop preparedness and responsiveness and has an understanding of successful decision-making processes and boundaries help to create successful plans for schools and organizations. Evaluating the previous plan of steps to help to maintain a historical perspective in change efforts.

Mission statements are brief written descriptions of school effects (McNamara, 2008). The mission statement is a specific purpose statement that is part of the mission statement in general. The courage and vision are part of the statement of the mission. Vision statements are usually a convincing description of how the school or organization and must operate at some point in the future and how do so. The basic process of strategic planning, according to McNamara (2006) include the following steps: (1) Identify the purpose of the school or organization also called the mission statement. The statement should describe what a student or employee needs are intended to be met and services on what happens. The mission statement can be changed through the years, school or organization to the changing needs of society. (2) Select the objectives that must meet in order to accomplish the mission. These objectives address the major issues facing the school or organization. (3) Identifying approaches or strategies specific application to achieve the objectives. In this step, the external and internal environments of the school or organization are examined closely. steps to strengthen management can also be financial. (4) Identify specific action plans for each department or function for each strategy on how to carry out. In this stage can be organized committees to monitor whether targets are met. (5) Monitoring and updating the plan is the final step in this plan. Reflection by planners is done to see to what extent goals and objectives are being met and whether action plans are being implemented. At this stage feedback is important. One school or organization can generate a survey of satisfaction with the school or organization (McNamara, 2006).

The second area: empirical

The kingdoms of empirical research and deals facutal measurable components.

The third realm: Aesthetics

Among the four disciplines in the third realm of aesthetics to be studied by the students are music, art, literature and arts of movement in physical education.

The beautification process can be applied to organizations as well.

  The fourth kingdom Synnoetics

The knower and known are inseparable (English, 2003).

Team building takes decisions, setting goals, resolving conflicts, and to reveal the diversity of relationships with other people and must be addressed in a strategic plan. Identify critical stakeholders, the ability of members, pros and cons of a decision and have a process to address the different views are key sets of skill. clarify issues, and view the other person, identifying common ground, identify what can be changed and what can not change are essential in the plan of creation and the school or organization. highly controlled social mechanisms give way to threaten intimate and personal relationships and being true to oneself. A growing need and emphasis is needed on the personal dimension of understanding.

The Fifth Kingdom: Ethics

The postmodern approach retains the ability to exercise choice about one's personality, outlook on life, sexual orientation, the existence continent, thought processes and integrity knowledge base and only human. thumb is needed to understand that knowledge of facts is an important resource in improving the understanding in relations personal and moral. This knowledge is necessary in making wise decisions. These decisions are based on the consideration of alternatives and predict consequences. " Moral decision presupposes a free and comprehensive self-in-relation, and become a person depends on making moral choices "(Kritsonis, 2007, p. 592).

The United Sixth: synoptic

The reign of the sixth summary This is where the student has a comprehensive view of which the epistemology – the theory of knowledge, and metaphysics – what is real, is the fundamental basis of their function. Meanings in kingdoms of the sixth are broadly inclusive and include history, religion, and philosophy. empirical truths, aesthetic (beauty), and synnoetic (personal knowledge) meanings are coherent in this area. The man is revealed in the decisions it has in the context of their circumstances. The postmodern approach considers human diversity and the difference is beneficial for finding modern truth and are a threat to governance, authority or rule. Any threat to diversity would veer toward the persuasion undemocratic. Feyerabend (1999) and his views on the epistemological anarchism no one thought there was too absurd or immoral stance that refused to consider or act on, and no method is indispensable. As people are faced with change, the need for the perspectives of history, a broader view of faith and providing a critical understanding of philosophical reflection is needed more than ever (Kritsonis, 2007).

  Concluding Remarks

In conclusion, there are patterns or structures in the knowledge and understanding of these typical forms is essential for the guidance of teaching, learning and curriculum construction. The purpose of this article is to discuss aspects significant six realms of meaning in relation to strategic planning in educational leadership. According to Kritsonis, the six realms of meaning are considered six fundamental patterns of meaning. These patterns are sequential and the basis for all the meanings that come into human experience and emerge from an analysis of possible distinctive modes of human understanding. The patterns are symbolic, empirical research, aesthetics, synnoetics, ethics and synoptic. The different patterns of knowledge are the varieties of meaning, and learning of these patterns is the key to the effective realization of basic human through the general education curriculum of the whole person (2007).

Any school or organization's future is at stake in planning strategic (Center for Organizational Development and Leadership, 2007). A postmodern approach to academic and administrative departments would implement plans and strategies that are narrowly focused and vital to its future. Strategic planning in educational leadership determines where you go to a school during the next year or so and how is it going to be (McNamara, 2008). One plan would allow too wide planning initiatives that go wrong in the right way to approach or the people who could be trapped and not be able to move forward and Leadership Development, 2007).

Kritsonis said

Humans is essentially a creature that you create, discover, enjoy and receives and acts on the meaning. These meanings are six general types: symbolic, empirical, aesthetic synnoetic, ethical and synoptic. The teacher can take the opportunity to address areas such as fragmentation, satiety, and transience of knowledge, to show what kinds of skills are necessary for fully understanding the essential elements and how they can be distinguished from non-essential in the selection instructional materials. (2007, p.74)

The six realms of meaning as it relates to strategic planning in educational leadership are indicative of making national, state, district and local plans of work for the success of all students to achieve the goals in academic disciplines.
